A plein-air artist, Tom Soltesz paints in the hills and woodlands near his home in Mill Valley, California, where he captures the glowing beauty that is so unique to Marin County: golden hillsides, majestic stands of eucalyptus, the magnificent coastline, and Mt. Tamalpais rising in the background against the changing colors of the sky. With a rich palette and skilled brushwork, he portrays on canvas the wonderful light and atmosphere of the area and the changing moods and seasons. Soltesz's traditional landscapes are evocative of early California Impressionists such as Percy Gray, Edgar Payne, William Wendt, and Granville Redmond. Influenced by their works, he developed his own style and is fast becoming recognized as one of the Bay Area's premiere artistic talents.
