Jade Fon was a pre-eminent California artist and highly respected plein-air painter who combined classic Chinese watercolor techniques with California style. Some of his favorite subjects were flowers and birds, landscapes and images of the San Francisco Bay Area and Monterey. With nature as his muse, he created captivating scenes of misty mornings, soaring birds and wind-gnarled trees. From the splendor and solitude of sea and shore to charming cityscapes, Fon's poetic images capture the essence of coastal life.
During his lengthy career, Fon won more than 100 national awards and two gold medals. He was a member of several art societies, including the illustrious American Watercolor Society, and was proposed for Associate National Academician in 1983.
